I am always impressed at how quickly and often the opposition has the very first comment on anything not just at this site but on so many other gay sites talking about anything prop 8 related.

This pattern is consistent, persistent and pervasive.

It would almost seem that it is organized and orchestrated.

The opposition would call these statements paranoid. Still, I am impressed with such an ubiquitous pattern.

I am completely disgusted by all who voted against gay marriage, and have 0 respect for them as human beings.

To completely disregard the rights of your fellow humans and to blatantly violate the Constitution which guarantees the pursuit of happiness and equal treatment under the law, to mandate and control the personal lives of others, is not only un-American, it is fascist in its insanity.

"No man has a natural right to commit aggression on the equal rights of another, and this is all from which the laws ought to restrain him."
~Thomas Jefferson

"Of liberty I would say that, in the whole plenitude of its extent, it is unobstructed action according to our will. But rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law,' because law is often but the tyrant’s will, and always so when it violates the right of an individual."
~Thomas Jefferson

“That the desires of the majority of the people are often for injustice and inhumanity against the minority, is demonstrated by every page of the history of the whole world”
~John Adams

PJ, which election were you voting in? Gays DID have the right to marriage, which Prop 8 took away. Maybe it was only for several months, but somewhere upwards of 17,000 same sex couples were married in California...legally. They had the same marriage that you may enjoy.

So gays were stripped of rights. How is that not changing things? I think sometimes Pro Prop 8 people have convinced themselves that because, in their view, they have "righted a wrong" that it's no harm, no foul.

I don't think anyone should be surprised that once gays have been allowed to have the same rights as hetero couples that they're not going to settle for "separate but equal" civil unions (let's not even start that discussion as to whether or not they are truly equal).

tisha, you're not a bigot for excercising your right to vote. You're a bigot for using your vote to cause your religious beliefs to have the force of law. You're a bigot for voting that your religious beliefs regarding "what we FEEL is right" trumps other people's LEGAL rights.

You claim that the "bigger bigot" is the one who "shouts the double-standard." I don't disagree. You enjoy the legal protection to use YOUR religious choice to ensure other people cannot enjoy the legal protections of THEIR choices. Double-standard? Oh my, yes.

"we never marched against you! we never blacklisted you!"

Hilarious.

STrip the rights? Gays never had the right to get married so how can it be stripped? Most people who do not support gay marriage do instead support civil unions which afford the couple the legal rights they are seeking. If I, based on my religious convictions, do not support actual marriage, then I am a bigot and filled with hate? The gay community is hamstringing itself with the insistence on marriage as opposed to civil unions.

Maybe they need to understand that they have freedom of speech. Not freedom from the consequences of that freedom of speech. They san say anything they want, and I can spend my money anyway I want. It won't go to someone who tries to take away other's rights. I am hetero, their involvement does not change my ability to get married, but it does give hate an excuse to go forward. I don't want to be surrounded by hate.

I think that I'm missing the logic of these arguments. Let me try to review. (1) someone holds discriminatory beliefs and votes to take away someone elses rights. (2) said target objects. (3) said target objects more loudly when the perp is successful. (4) target is now a biggot as well.

Say WHAT?

Tisha, this has nothing to do with expressing yourself and voting. It has everything to do WITH THE RESULT, and with you and the Yes on 8 campaign thinking it's OK to strip rights from people you might not understand or agree with.

Everyone is free to have their own opinion and even judge others. But when one group takes away something from another, and mandates disapproval of another group, then all americans should be terribly afraid.

For example, did you see the "ban mormon marriage" t-shirts we're selling? What would be your argument if such a law passed by the majority. Would you lie down and say that it was OK? I highly doubt it.

interesting that you call us the bigot for excercising our right to vote for what we feel is right. now who is the bigger bigot? let me give you a hint...the one who shouts the double standard. you dare to stand up and say that we should respect others opinions yet, you do not respect ours. we never marched against you! we never blacklisted you! yet, you teach exceptance but, what you really mean is you only except your own thoughts and ideas. shame on all of you!!!!!!!
