One of my friends in high school was sent to the West Ridge Academy/Utah Boys Ranch back around 2003 for refusing to follow the Mormon Religion. His parents dropped him off at this awful institution. He was forced to work outside in the winter in deep snow with flip flops on. He was not allowed to wear shoes. Also, he was forced to pick up trash along the freeway with no gloves on his hands. He said that the food was absolutely horrible, and that often times, he was not allowed to eat.
This place is the worst place in the world to send your children. It will bring me great joy when this satanic place is shut down.

UPDATE: West Ridge Academy is licensed by the State of Utah, and their license is up for renewal this month.

We received an e-mail reply from L.J. Dustman at the Utah Department of Human Services, Office of Licensing.

This is horrifying. I had never heard of it before. I hope the author has been able to survive without PTSD or worse. His website is definitely illuminating, http://www.mormongulag.com/ as well as the “West Ridge Academy’s website, http://www.utahboysranch.org/ . The lies are so stark, one would never know they are even referring to the same entity.

I am just so mystified by “official” Mormon dishonesty in so many areas. It’s shown up on almost every thread here. I’ve had discussions with other Mormons about the same topics as the threads here and the answers I get are the same, even almost verbatim. I’ve been to Mormon services, read Mormon blogs, and it’s not like they have “workshops” on how to lie about any particular controversial topic … at least not public ones, so I’m not sure where or when this indoctrination (for lack of a less cult-like word) happens.

Any former Mormons here that could shed some light on this?
