A Mormon account of solicitations for Prop 8 donations by the church, perhaps using tithing records to determine how much money they should ask them for.
What we were dreading, though, was to be asked to make “get out the vote” calls or put up a sign on our lawn (the worst part about being asked by the Church to do something is you really can’t say no– and if you do, you just don’t get it).

There have been a lot of news stories about the Sacramento theater director, who is Mormon, and his $1,000 donation to pass prop 8. The New York Times reports on his resignation and further discusses the controversy. The director said in a statement:
“I understand that my choice of supporting Proposition 8 has been the cause of many hurt feelings, maybe even betrayal,” Mr. Eckern said. “It was not my intent. I honestly had no idea that this would be the reaction.”
